Breeders diary

Hi guys!

Happy New Years to you all and hope you'll have a great 2011!! =)

As a breeder you need to make hard decisions and things, as I've notice, rarely goes as hoped but you just have to keep up the spirit and do your very best.
A good friend said that it's your responsibility, and she's right. It it yours, as a breeder, even if it all turns out pretty good or pretty bad; it's you decision that affects it all. When choosing a male for your bitch there's a few things you need to check. Looks, exterior, temper, genetics diseases, background but also health. And what should be included in the word "health"?

Do you check health by test for everything you can find? Is it to look at your dog and see: is she/he healthy or not? Is it to got to the vet every now and then just to...check? Is it when you breed "papers" or is it when you breed dogs? Is it when you care to much of the ink, and pay to little attention to the dog?

I use to read a wonderful and honourable breeder's blog now and then. She once wrote that We need to trust our "gut-feeling" more then what the ink says. To many breeders, today (of any breed) focus on the ink, and to little to the "gut-feeling" and the fact is that you need to see the dog, the papers says many things, but if you never lift your eyes from the paper, you will never see the whole picture.

I'll breed dogs, Not details. =))

We had a great New Years eve together with my family - The dogs had a great time and did not pay attention to the fireworks outside.
Goofy loved the fireworks; he could just sit and stair on them and waggle his tail - He thought is was great! Nea, well...She's like a cool teddybear. She didn't even bother care for the fireworks; I wonder if she's deaf?? haha, she didn't even angle the ears or so..
Aylen thought they where a bit weird in the beginning, especially when they lighted up the sky. But after a while she didn't even bother to care, she had to much fun playing with the others!

It's great when it doesn't affect the dogs as they can get very stressed about it and more. Been there, done that. It's terrible!!

I hope for a great year ahead!
Take Care
